NZ beats Australia... only this time it's broadband not rugby

The New Zealand broadband monitoring company TrueNet tested the ability of Australian ADSL Broadband users to download three Australian-based websites and found they actually did WORSE than those who were sampled downloading the same websites from New Zealand.  Strewth!

ADSL Broadband users on New Zealand broadband internet service providers recorded speed scores between 0.3 and 0.4 seconds to download the sites.

The same websites were then used by a small group of ADSL broadband users based in Sydney and Melbourne and they averaged more than 0.5 seconds.

In their October broadband speed report, TrueNet reported that "Their performance downloading Australian websites (from Australia) demonstrates how far behind NZ they are, with all NZ ISPs having a far better performance for downloading the same Australian websites."

Australia's telecommunications ombudsman this month said complaints about internet services rose 22 per cent between 2014/15 and 2015/16.

...add in the fact that here in New Zealand we are rolling out the ultra fast broadband network across the nation giving us even better speeds and connectivity and we will continue to surge ahead of our friends over the ditch... so it's not just rugby we're better at!

TrueNet is a service in New Zealand that monitors website download times on behalf of the NZ consumer watchdog.  They use small groups in Australia and Dallas for comparison.
